And you already know maths is important. Not only is it likely there will be class tests but students in Primary schools will also have to sit SATS tests with a maths paper. But don't worry, there's plenty of time to prepare! We've got revision covered. The Maths SATS consist of two separate papers: 'Arithmetic' and 'Problem Solving and Reasoning'.

KS2 Maths Problem-Solving. Our exciting KS2 teaching resources will help introduce students to problem-solving and reasoning topics. Take a look at our fun and engaging maths word problems, investigations and games which can be used with the accompanying KS2 worksheets and activities to test their problem-solving knowledge later in the year!

Problem Solving Games These resources provide fun, free problem solving teaching ideas and activities for primary aged children. They will help children to reason mathematically, a vital skill if they are to learn to solve problems.

KS1 Problem Solving is a series of graded books which help children to sharpen their mathematical skills by applying their knowledge to a range of 'real-life' situations, such as shopping and telling the time. Exercises include addition and subtraction, shapes and their properties and concepts of time.

These problem solving starter packs are great to support students with problem solving skills. I've used them this year for two out of four lessons each week, then used Numeracy Ninjas as starters for the other two lessons. When I first introduced the booklets, I encouraged my students to use scaffolds like those mentioned here, then gradually weaned them off the scaffolds.

CCEA has developed this resource to promote problem solving in mathematics, providing suggested activities that allow pupils to demonstrate their mathematics in real-life and work situations. Key features of resource: It encourages pupils to solve problems by identifying what mathematics is needed and how it should be used.
