A virtual classroom is a digital learning environment where students can interact with teachers and learning resources just like in a traditional classroom. The communications in a virtual classroom take place in real-time like in a physical classroom and face-face interactions like presentations and discussions are simulated with conferencing technology.
Teachers have basically acknowledged that there are some initial conditions to start facing the challenge such as the fact that the use of virtual classrooms is “an excellent resource and most students like it because they are keen on technology” (Teacher 4, questionnaire), and that “students feel very comfortable and self-confident working with computers” (Teacher 3, Interview).
K12 and Virtual High School are two companies that hire virtual school teachers. For K12, you will need to meet the No Child Left Behind Act’s highly-qualified teacher standards in addition to being certified in your state as a teacher.
Freshman: Florida Virtual High School offers a very unique learning experience. It is convenient, allowing busy children to succeed academically. FlVS teachers are incredibly kind and always willing to help. However, some of the course material appears very difficult. The design of the courses can also be very difficult to navigate at times.
The second type of virtual classroom is the supervised or instructor-led classroom. This conforms more to a traditional classroom definition. There is at least one active instructor present and the lesson is carried out in real time at a specific time and date, with the students being in attendance virtually through a video conferencing application.
